How we research and review what appears on this site

HomeAppraisers.ca is an independent Canadian directory. We do not perform appraisals, accept commissions from lenders, or promote the firms we list in exchange for payment. Everything below explains how the pages you read are put together and how you can push back when we get something wrong.

Last reviewed July 2026. This page is reviewed at least twice a year and whenever a material policy changes.

Independence

We are not owned by, affiliated with, or paid by any appraisal firm, brokerage, lender, or professional body. Listings are compiled from public sources — lender-approved rosters, professional-body registries, and firm websites. We remove or correct listings on request.

How listings are built

We start from public directories and lender-approved rosters, then cross-check firm names, service areas, and credentials against the firm's own website.
Coverage claims ("serves Toronto", "AACI on staff") reflect what the firm advertises publicly. We do not independently audit engagements.
Cost bands, turnaround windows, and lender-approved language come from our methodology, which is reviewed quarterly.

Review cadence

Every city, service, and use-case page is reviewed at least twice a year.
Cost bands are refreshed each quarter alongside our methodology update.
Regulatory references (AIC, CNAREA, CRA, OSFI, CMHC) are checked whenever the source publishes a material change.

Corrections

Spotted something inaccurate — a wrong service area, an outdated credential, a firm that no longer operates? Email editorial@homeappraisers.ca or use our listing correction form. We aim to review requests within five business days.

What we don't do

We do not accept payment to rank or feature specific firms.
We do not provide legal, tax, lending, or valuation advice.
We do not guarantee an appraiser's availability, quality, or price.
